The skies had been moody all day. Overcast, a little threatening, not the postcard version of Aruba that Giana had grown up visiting every summer with her family. But right before the ceremony at the Holiday Inn Resort Aruba in Palm Beach, the clouds broke. The sky turned gold, then pink, then that deep Aruba orange that makes you stop talking mid-sentence. For an island known for bright, sunny weather year-round, it was actually the clouds that made the sunset feel earned.
Giana and Daniel got married on June 14, 2025 at the Holiday Inn Resort Aruba, surrounded by the friends and family who had spent the better part of four days celebrating with them on the island.
How They Met
They were acquaintances in high school, two grades apart, and went their separate ways for college. Giana played softball. Daniel left first; she followed two years later. Neither of them thought much of the other until they both ended up on Tinder, swiping without any real plan, and matched.
Giana was on her teammate’s couch after an early morning class. Daniel was about to go see Ford v Ferrari with his mom, right after his birthday. Two days later, that Saturday, he picked her up for their first date. And yes, he asked her to be his girlfriend.
Then the world shut down. A global pandemic meant plenty of time together, and somewhere in the middle of it they realized they had more in common than either of them expected. What started as a Tinder match turned into something that would carry them through years of change, growth, and everything life threw at them, all the way to a beach in Aruba.
The Aruba Connection
For Giana, this wasn’t just a destination wedding in Aruba. If you're curious what planning a destination wedding on the island actually costs, we broke it all down in our Aruba wedding videographer pricing guide. The island has been a second home to her family for years. Her childhood summers were spent on these same beaches, and her family has visited so often that her dad has picked up Papiamento, the island’s local language. He opened his toast with “Mi ta stima bo,” which means “I love you” in Papiamento.
The Ceremony: A Sunset That Almost Didn’t Happen
The ceremony took place on the beach at the Holiday Inn Resort Aruba in Palm Beach, Noord. The weather had been working against them all day. Aruba is known for its year-round sunshine, so an overcast morning was unusual. But the clouds cleared just in time, blessing the ceremony with one of those golden Aruba sunsets that every videographer chases and rarely gets this perfectly.
The minister walked through their love story from the beginning, from high school to Tinder and through the pandemic, and you could feel the crowd leaning in because every detail was specific to them.
Giana’s letter to Daniel, captured everything about their journey: “We always seem to find the brighter side in every situation. I love you more than words can explain and I’m so glad I get to marry my best friend. Love, your future wife.”
Daniel’s words carried the same weight. He told her he never believed in soulmates until he found his. He told her she doesn’t just show him love, she pushes him to be better. And he promised her the world and all the amazing years to come.
Reception: Toasts That Told the Real Story
Giana’s dad set the tone early. He opened in Papiamento, thanked the room, and spoke about what it meant to watch his daughter find someone who brings her “joy, strength, and love.” He called it one of the greatest gifts a parent can receive. He told Daniel, “You treat her like the queen she is. Welcome to the family.” And then he raised a glass, the crowd shouted “Aruba! Aruba!” and that was the energy for the rest of the night.
Giana’s maid of honor, gave the speech of the evening. She met Giana through a mutual connection and they became fast friends, the kind of friendship where you can’t remember what life was like before. She described the kind of love Giana and Daniel have built with a line that stuck with everyone in the room: “It’s not flashy. It’s strong.”
They celebrated all night after that, turning the evening into one of those memories you carry with you for a long time.
